THG's Year in Review

In 1891, British humorist Jerome K. Jerome wrote that “Whenever five or six English-speaking people meet round a fire on Christmas Eve, they start telling each other ghost stories.”

In Time for Halloween. A 3500 year old Babylonian tablet gives the first known description of how to get rid of a ghost. It involves two dolls and beer.

Fiction is fiction, but sometimes it is also fact. THG investigates the true history behind three Gothic Horror Classics: The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

There was an entire class of Navy ships- some thirty vessels- named after Army Generals. The largely forgotten General G.O. Squier class transports did yeomans' work in an unsung role, and have an interesting history that deserves to be remembered.
